Puzzle #131

It is the last German MPh. In order for the Germans to win, they must exit Panther 302 off the south edge road hex I10. What does the US player need to score a hit and a kill in hex I9 or I10 assuming the TD already has depleted APCR and no ROF. Your answer can be in fractions (eg. 7/36th TH and 11/36th TK or Shock.

Note: All hedges are Bocage. The German player is fully versed in the rules (do not count on him not taking advantage of every rule available to him). Vertex H9-H10 in too narrow to bypass.

Solution to Puzzle #130

The Russian player thinks that barring an Improbable Hit (Final TH #of 1), he is guaranteed the victory, but little did he count on his German opponent being the sleaze heavyweight champion of the World. Before I give the answer, I want to say that I would never use this tactic against anyone, ever (except maybe George). This is because I believe it does go against the spirit of the game. That being said, here it is…

Truck moves to D5-C5-B5 at which point the ATG pivots to CA A7-B6 and declares a shot using APCR* (If no APRC then AP) at the truck in B5. The fact the LOS is clearly blocked does not prohibit the shot nor the checking of LOS as it is at the shooters discretion and eyesight what shot looks blocked to him. After stringing it which obviously shows that the shot is indeed blocked, this puts the ATG with the correct CA ready for the truck to enter A6 with either a ROF shot or an IF shot and no penalties for changing CA. At worst, this is a 4 TH and if Rate was kept, a 6 TH.

*The reason I waste an APCR shot on the woods is for an additional chance at rolling a colored 2 and keeping ROF (if I have APCR then there is a 5 in 6 chance I also kept Rate).

Woodworking: So that was a very brief retirement.

Dice Tower – Christmas comes late for Tim Brieaddy.  The dice tower I made as a gift for Tim is finally finished.  

Made out of solid Walnut to match the stock of his M1 Garand.  Black craft foam lining with the edges inserted in slots cut into sides of the wood.  3 baffles (45,45,60 degree). Shallow tray so the rolls are visible at any angle.  Video.

Table Tops – I will be starting on the ‘Argent Class’ of tabletops within the next couple of weeks.  I plan to videotape the process and post it to the site.  It will be similar to the ‘DuPont Class’ but a little more compact (2 Geo boards) and with 2 much larger detachable side trays. It will be made out of Cherry and have tempered 1/8″ glass.  I will be producing extras units of this model which I will post for sale on this site once completed.

 

Tanks 101 video:  It looks like I need to watch ‘how to make a video 101’ before  attempting to make a tanks 101 video.   Sorry this is taking so long but Tim and I will be trying again (3rd attempt) tomorrow to up the quality and content and will hopefully have it posted by next week.

First I’d like to say thank you for your patience. Never before have I seen such a perfect storm of new product mixed with the Gods of the supply chain sabotaging our every effort ay efficiency and speed.

We had no fewer than 9 new ASL products (Prokhorovka, Operation Martlet, Operation Neptune, Hollow Legions, From the Cellar 11, MMP Pocket Charts, Pocket Rulebook, Pocket Chapter H, and Winter Offensive 13) hit the market within days of each other. To add to the confusion, Paypal just outsourced their shipping service to ShipStation which does not allow orders over 30 days to be printed so over 200 orders had to be entered manually. Uline is backordered on shipping boxes, the Prokhorovka replacement empty boxes (to replace the crushed units of the first shipment) were held at the UPS hub in Cologne for 27 days, Christina left (thank God Hailey came back), and we went 5 weeks at Ritterkrieg without full staff due to injury or sickness.

The great news is that the last 60 orders should be out the door by the weekend.

The long-awaited Kursk Historical Module is now up for PRE-ORDER at 25% off.

Operation ZITADELLE was the German attempt to cut off the Kursk salient and surround five Soviet armies. While Army Group South attacked the southern end of the salient in what would lead to the massive tank battles around Prokhorovka, Army Group Center, led by General Walter Model’s 9. Armee, attacked from the north on 5 July. Lying directly in the path of this assault was the village of Ponyri.

SLAUGHTER AT PONYRI is a Historical Advanced Squad Leader (HASL) module that portrays the fighting around Ponyri during the three most crucial days, 7-9 July, on a beautiful historical map designed by Don Petros from Luftwaffe aerial photographs, supplemented by on the ground review, and executed by Charlie Kibler. A wide range of 12 individual scenarios, each recreating a portion of the battle on part of the map accompany the Campaign Game that covers the battle in six CG Dates over the three days featuring a familiar CG system covering the battle that was to become known as the “Stalingrad of Kursk.”

SLAUGHTER AT PONYRI includes special rules and counters for German sappers, elite Russian Airborne troops, mine belts, and fanatic outposts with rules kept simple to allow players of all levels to easily pick up the game, leaving the challenge as how to deploy and maneuver combined-arms forces over the large campaign game map. Three map sheets join to cover the battlefield, with a separate fourth sheet covering a central area where two of the main maps join. Included are enough additional counters to conduct the full Campaign Game with nothing other than BEYOND VALOR.
